ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ ١

Saa imekaribia, na mwezi umepasuka!

The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌۭ مُّسْتَمِرٌّۭ ٢

Na wakiona Ishara hugeuka upande na husema: Huu uchawi tu unazidi kuendelea.

And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic."

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍۢ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ ٣

Na wamekanusha na wamefuata matamanio yao. Na kila jambo ni lenye kuthibiti.

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ ٤

Na bila ya shaka zimewajia khabari zenye makaripio.

And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence -

حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٥

Hikima kaamili; lakini maonyo hayafai kitu!

Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ نُّكُرٍ ٦

Basi jiepushe nao. Siku atakapo ita mwitaji kuliendea jambo linalo chusha;

So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,

خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌۭ مُّنتَشِرٌۭ ٧

Macho yao yatainama; watatoka makaburini kama nzige walio tawanyika,

Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,

مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌۭ ٨

Wanamkimbilia mwitaji, na makafiri wanasema: Hii ni siku ngumu.

Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."

۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌۭ وَٱزْدُجِرَ ٩

Kabla yao kaumu ya Nuhu walikanusha; wakamkanusha mja wetu, na wakasema ni mwendawazimu, na akakaripiwa.

The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌۭ فَٱنتَصِرْ ١٠

Basi akamwomba Mola wake Mlezi akasema: Kwa hakika mimi nimeshindwa, basi ninusuru!

So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."

فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍۢ مُّنْهَمِرٍۢ ١١

Basi tukaifungua milango ya mbingu kwa maji yanayo miminika.

Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down

وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًۭا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍۢ قَدْ قُدِرَ ١٢

Na tukazipasua ardhi kwa chemchem, yakakutana maji kwa jambo lilio kadiriwa.

And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.

وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍۢ وَدُسُرٍۢ ١٣

Na tukamchukua kwenye safina ya mbao na kamba.

And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,

تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءًۭ لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ ١٤

Ikawa inakwenda kwa nadhari yetu, kuwa ni malipo kwa alivyo kuwa amekanushwa.

Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةًۭ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ١٥

Na bila ya shaka tuliiacha iwe ni Ishara. Lakini je, yupo anaye kumbuka?

And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ١٦

Basi ilikuwaje adhabu yangu, na maonyo yangu.

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ١٧

Na bila ya shaka Sisi tumeifanya Qur'ani iwe nyepesi kufahamika. Lakini yupo anaye kumbuka?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌۭ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ١٨

Kina A'di walikanusha. Basi ilikuwaje adhabu yangu na maonyo yangu?

'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا صَرْصَرًۭا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍۢ مُّسْتَمِرٍّۢ ١٩

Hakika Sisi tuliwapelekea upepo wa kimbunga katika siku korofi mfululizo,

Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍۢ مُّنقَعِرٍۢ ٢٠

Ukiwang'oa watu kama vigogo vya mitende vilio ng'olewa.

Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٢١

Basi ilikuwaje adhabu yangu na maonyo yangu?

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ٢٢

Na bila ya shaka Sisi tumeifanya Qur'ani nyepesi kufahamika; lakini yupo anaye kumbuka?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ٢٣

Thamudi waliwakanusha Waonyaji.

Thamud denied the warning

فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًۭا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًۭا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًۭا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍ ٢٤

Wakasema: Ati tumfuate binaadamu mmoja katika sisi? Basi hivyo sisi tutakuwa katika upotofu na kichaa!

And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness.

أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌۭ ٢٥

Ni yeye tu aliye teremshiwa huo ukumbusho kati yetu sote? Bali huyu ni mwongo mwenye kiburi!

Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar."

سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًۭا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ ٢٦

Kesho watajua ni nani huyo mwongo mwenye kiburi.

They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.

إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةًۭ لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ ٢٧

Hakika Sisi tutawapelekea ngamia jike ili kuwajaribu, basi watazame tu na ustahamili.

Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍۢ مُّحْتَضَرٌۭ ٢٨

Na waambie kwamba maji yatagawanywa baina yao; kila sehemu ya maji itahudhuriwa na aliye khusika.

And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn].

فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ ٢٩

Basi wakamwita mtu wao akaja akamchinja.

But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her].

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٣٠

Basi ilikuwaje adhabu yangu na maonyo yangu!

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ ٣١

Hakika Sisi tuliwapelekea ukelele mmoja tu, wakawa kama mabuwa ya kujengea uwa.

Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ٣٢

Na bila ya shaka Sisi tumeifanya Qur'ani iwe nyepesi kwa kukumbuka, lakini yupo akumbukaye?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ٣٣

Kaumu Lut'i nao waliwakadhibisha Waonyaji.

The people of Lot denied the warning.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍۢ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٍۢ ٣٤

Hakika Sisi tukawapelekea kimbunga cha vijiwe, isipo kuwa wafuasi wa Lut'i. Hao tuliwaokoa karibu na alfajiri.

Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn

نِّعْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ ٣٥

Kwa neema inayo toka kwetu. Hivyo ndivyo tumlipavyo anaye shukuru.

As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful.

وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ٣٦

Na hakika yeye aliwaonya adhabu yetu; lakini wao waliyatilia shaka hayo maonyo.

And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning.

وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٣٧

Na walimtaka awape wageni wake. Tukayapofua macho yao, na tukawaambia: Onjeni basi adhabu na maonyo yangu!

And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."

وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌۭ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ ٣٨

Na iliwafikia wakati wa asubuhi adhabu yangu ya kuendelea.

And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.

فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٣٩

Basi onjeni adhabu na maonyo yangu!

So taste My punishment and warning.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ٤٠

Na hakika tumeisahilisha Qur'ani kuikumbuka. Lakini yupo anaye kumbuka?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٤١

Na Waonyaji waliwafikia watu wa Firauni.

And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning.

كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ٤٢

Walizikadhibisha Ishara zetu zote, nasi tukawashika kama anavyo shika Mwenye nguvu Mwenye uweza.

They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability.

أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌۭ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ٤٣

Je! Makafiri wenu ni bora kuliko hao, au yameandikwa vitabuni kuwa nyinyi hamtiwi makosani?

Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌۭ مُّنتَصِرٌۭ ٤٤

Au ndio wanasema: Sisi ni wengi tutashinda tu.

Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?

سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ ٤٥

Wingi wao huu utashindwa, na wao watasukumwa nyuma.

[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].

بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ ٤٦

Bali Saa ya Kiyama ndio miadi yao, na Saa hiyo ni nzito zaidi na chungu zaidi.

But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍۢ ٤٧

Hakika wakosefu wamo katika upotofu na wazimu.

Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness.

يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ ٤٨

Siku watakapo kokotwa Motoni kifudifudi waambiwe: Onjeni mguso wa Jahannamu!

The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar."

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍۢ ٤٩

Kwa hakika Sisi tumekiumba kila kitu kwa kipimo.

Indeed, all things We created with predestination.

وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌۭ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ ٥٠

Na amri yetu haikuwa ila ni moja tu, kama kupepesa jicho.

And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ٥١

Na bila ya shaka tumekwisha waangamiza wenzenu. Lakini yupo anaye kumbuka?

And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?

وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍۢ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ٥٢

Na kila jambo walilo lifanya limo vitabuni.

And everything they did is in written records.

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍۢ وَكَبِيرٍۢ مُّسْتَطَرٌ ٥٣

Na kila kidogo na kikubwa kimeandikwa.

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَهَرٍۢ ٥٤

Hakika wachamngu watakuwa katika Mabustani na mito.

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ ٥٥

Katika makalio ya haki kwa Mfalme Mwenye uweza.

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.
